Should you install signs yourself

If you’re considering sign installation as a DIY project, think again. DIY sign installation is not recommended for two major reasons: safety and time. Why? Safety hazards tend to rare their ugly head if sign installation isn’t done correctly. Additionally, sign installers have the necessary equipment needed to perform their job in an efficient and timely manner.

What to do in preparation for sign installation

To have a smooth sign installation, you must first prepare for the process. We have put together a list of things to keep in mind before your installation begins.

Scheduling your sign installation

First, you will need to schedule a date and time for your installation. Usually, most installations will begin in the morning hours. The length of time it takes for your installation depends on the size of the sign you are having installed. Quality customer service is our goal, and we will work with you to not interrupt your business.

Apply for proper permits

Local ordinances may dictate your installation. Everything from the spot of installation, materials used, look of the design, etc. may have guidelines you have to follow. You will need to check on any permits you may have to attain prior to installation. The great thing about working with AKO Signs is that we will handle all permits and local ordinances for you!

Old sign removal

You may have some signage that needs to be removed before the installation appointment. If this is the case, remove all sign materials. Be sure to not damage any surfaces while removing your sign’s current materials. AKO Signs can remove old signage for you, if needed.

Site visit

We will visit your location before installation to brief you and ourselves on what is exactly required for your installation. This visit will allow us to understand the environment of the installation such as ground conditions for posts and footings. We will also be able to confirm all measurements and signage dimensions.

Installation day

Safety is at the top of our list! We will take every precaution during your installation day to ensure a safe installation. We will have an experienced team on-hand with all of the correct equipment to properly install all of your business signage.
